The Archivist
A Vatican archivist in the Rome of 2073 begins decoding a pattern in the record, and cannot tell whether he is uncovering a conspiracy fifteen centuries old, or building something beautiful out of coincidence. By the time he is certain, he has been offered the power to execute its final move.
It is a novel about a forger: the hand that executes and the will that directs, and the question of who really authors a made thing. We made it with artificial intelligence, and we say so on the cover, where it carries the mark; the case study is the account of how.
What kind of novel it is
Slow, interior, and low on physical stakes: a book of archives, conversations, and a narrator you learn to read sideways. The tension lives in what is known and withheld, and the ending keeps one ambiguity on purpose. If you want momentum and certainty, this is not that book. If you want a pattern you can’t stop testing, it is.
The claim
A coherent literary novel, voice-consistent across roughly 400 pages, with a controlled reveal schedule and an anti-kitsch discipline. Not a masterpiece by assertion: a book you can judge, next to the account of how it was made.
The pen tires before the will does.
