The Atelier Method
Color theme

for your agent

Your agent can build the room.

One prompt installs the method into your writing project: the standards, and the adversarial loop that enforces them, as plain files your agent reads on every session. It works in any tool that can fetch a URL and write a file: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, the rest.

The prompt

Read https://theateliermethod.org/agents.md and follow its install protocol to set up the Atelier Method in this project.

Paste it into your agent, in your project.

What it installs

Eight files, written into your project word for word. Nothing runs; nothing phones home. If a file already exists, the agent is instructed to leave it alone.

AGENTS.md
The operating rules the agent reads every session: who rules, and how the loops run.
atelier/premise-gauntlet.md
The design loop's interrogator. The only exit is a premise locked in your own words.
atelier/story-canon.md
The single source of truth. A fact that is not in the canon does not exist.
atelier/voice-spec.md
The voice as enforceable habits: counted budgets, and anchor lines you write by hand.
atelier/prose-guard.md
The machine's tells, named and banned. Binds every passage the agent drafts.
atelier/critic.md
Grades and never writes: seven dimensions, two vetoes.
atelier/blind-jury.md
Blind, independent verdicts on contested changes. Ties go to you.
atelier/cold-reader.md
A stranger reads the finished book in order; the author adjudicates its ledger.

What it does not do

It does not write your novel. The install leaves the author’s parts empty on purpose, and the files name them the author’s hand alone:

It does not come finished, either. The install is a skeleton: the rules and budgets are starting points, meant to be rewritten until they describe your book and no other. The method’s claim covers work that was judged. A template left at its defaults judges nothing.

Read it before you run it

The install is one markdown document, written to be read before it is run: every file it creates is on the page in full, and it asks your agent for nothing beyond writing them. Read the raw document. If you would rather assemble the room by hand, the same artifacts are free embeds.

The chair is yours.
