The constitution
The premise lock, supreme over every other file: what the book is, the scope discipline it runs under, and the risk rules no agent may break.
· principles 1, 12 of twelve
What it shows
Principle one. The premise was locked by the author before any agent drafted, and every file below it reads it and obeys it. The lock carries the scope discipline that governs the whole book, with over-attribution named as the failure mode, and five risk rules that no seat may break. The logline’s last sentence and the section that describes the secret are withheld here. The reader gets them in the book.
The principles are numbered on the method page. Cuts in the excerpts below are marked with an ellipsis in brackets; the three kinds of cut are stated on the record’s front page.

# Premise — The Constitution > This file is locked by the author. It is supreme over all other canon. > Skills READ it and obey it. They do not edit it unless the author explicitly says so. ## Logline In a fractured Europe of 2073, a mid-level Vatican archivist who specializes in suppressed doctrinal history begins to decode the **Indiction Cycles** — and cannot tell whether he is uncovering a fifteen-century papal conspiracy to steer civilization, or building a beautiful pattern out of coincidence. […] […] > Scope discipline (author's standing note to the revisionist): the conspiracy must > NOT explain everything. Over-attribution is the failure mode. Reinterpret sparingly; > leave most of history mundane. One luminous reinterpretation beats ten that cheapen > each other. ## Themes 1. **Order through control vs. freedom through collapse.** No clean answer. 2. **Pattern vs. meaning.** The seduction and danger of total explanation […]. 3. **Custody vs. authorship of history.** Is the Pope a keeper or an author of events? 4. **Agency under manipulation.** If Luca was *led* to discover the cycles, do his choices still matter? ## Non-negotiable risk rules (apply to every skill) 1. **Institutions, never peoples or faiths, are the agents of harm.** No monolithic portrayals of any nation, religion, or ethnicity. 2. **Internal diversity is mandatory** within every faction (Vatican, "the East," etc.). 3. **The "West must dominate the East" frame is to be interrogated, not endorsed.** Rahmani's arc and the East's genuine interiority exist to subvert it. 4. **Real, recent, painful events** […] are reframed only through fictional in-world institutions, with a fictional pope and curia. Keep deniability and dignity. 5. **Show the human cost** of control and of collapse, on all sides. ## The "proximity to present" doctrine This book is the first deliberate entry in a genre: a near-future that re-narrates the reader's actual present. Therefore: - Anchor invented canon to **real, citable** present-day facts (via the search protocols). - Separate **load-bearing** canon (protect at all costs) from **decorative** near-future texture (cheap to revise if reality diverges).
