When the note returns, the fix is upstream
The third diagnosis was structural; the rework replaced repeated interior beats with new live scenes, because the juries had passed variation and failed trimming. The room’s working orders: candid, and the blind A/B is the arbiter.

What it shows
Principle eleven, at its largest. The third diagnosis could not be reached by edits, so the fix went upstream into the canon: a clock, bodies in rooms, and a hand moving against the narrator now. The execution plan states the rule that made the rework safe, replace rather than trim, because the juries had already ruled on both. The handoff records the working style the author demanded of the room.
The principles are numbered on the method page. Cuts in the excerpts below are marked with an ellipsis in brackets; the three kinds of cut are stated on the record’s front page.
From the record
**Purpose:** cure the diagnosed sag (the middle *restates* rather than *rises*) by adding the three things the middle lacks — **forward pressure (a clock), embodiment (scenes with a place, a body, other people), and live antagonism (a hand moving against Luca now)** — plus one **engine upgrade** that makes the archive *active* instead of antiquarian.
## 0. The one principle that makes this safe Add pressure by **REPLACING repeated interior beats with new live scenes** — *variation*, which your blind A/B has already *passed* (the template surgery, 5-0) — **not by trimming good prose**, which your A/B has *failed* (the Pass-B reverts). Net length stays roughly flat; the middle **rises** instead of restating; and every swap is gated by the same blind A/B bar you already trust. This is the whole reason the restructure can work where trimming couldn't.
## WORKING STYLE (the author expects this) Be a **candid critic, not agreeable** — the author explicitly wants honest assessment and will disagree with you. The **blind A/B is the arbiter**, not your (or their) taste. Protect the book's nature (ambiguity, restraint, no kitsch, anti-caricature) *while* breaking monotony. Move with momentum, chapter by chapter, but surface real reveal-safety risks *before* writing prose (this has already saved the project twice). Don't over-consult on things you can decide; do flag genuine forks.
