Verify every note before you obey it

The last cold read filed its findings at full confidence; seven verification passes confirmed most of them and ruled the rest deliberate, misread, or no error at all.

· principle 10 of twelve

What it shows

Principle ten, second half. The last cold read filed its findings at full confidence, and every one was verified against the text before anything moved. Most were confirmed and fixed. Two were ruled deliberate and left alone. One was a misread. One was ruled no error at all and got a single word. The dispositions were written into the finding file itself, so no later pass could reopen them by accident.

The principles are numbered on the method page. Cuts in the excerpts below are marked with an ellipsis in brackets; the three kinds of cut are stated on the record’s front page.

# Inconsistencies — Final Pre-Publication Read (2026-07-05)

Findings from a sequential, prose-only cold read of all 34 chapters (no project metadata consulted).
Chapter numbers refer to the files in `.archive/chapters/`. Ranked by severity.
> **ADJUDICATED & RESOLVED (2026-07-05).** Every claim was independently verified against the
> bodies (seven parallel verification passes), then fixed where confirmed. Dispositions:
>
> […]
> - **A4 CONFIRMED — FIXED.** The seven "twenty-eight"s swept; Ch 16 now "thirty-one of them"
> (54−31=23, matches Ch 34 exactly); bible updated. "Thirty years" stands as the round number.
> - **A5 NOT AN ERROR** (Ch 28's "say so" ≠ the letter; he could never reach her to tell her she
> did nothing). One-word disambiguation applied: "find her" → "reach her."
> […]
> - **B1, B2 DELIBERATE per canon** ([…] the undelivered "third
> thing" are recorded design; untouched). **B3 reader misread** (Chs 7–9 never imply a functioning
> window). **B4 one container** (Ch 34 welds drawer=compartment; untouched). **B5 FIXED** (Ch 1
> fish purchase now on the way home, before two — aligns with Ch 12). **B6 FIXED** ("nearly as long").
> - **C1 CONFIRMED — FIXED** (quartiere). **C2 NOT AN ERROR** (the sentence states the Byzantine→papal
> transition and asserts continuation; matches indiction-ledger).
